I'm a full-time mummy

You know how disgusting it is to have an individual of the same gender as you saying, suggesting, agreeing and even acknowledging something said about you when they have no idea or never even bother to hear or understand or find out your side of story?

You would think that the person, being a woman, married with husband and kids would understand your point of view, or at least, try to emphatise what you go through... but sadly, that's not the case. I don't want to elaborate further as I think the person reads my blog too but I really do hope she will get the meaning of this post which I meant to direct to her.

James 4:11 (NIV) ~ Brothers and sisters, do not slander one another. Anyone who speaks against a brother or sister[a] or judges them speaks against the law and judges it. When you judge the law, you are not keeping it, but sitting in judgment on it.

So, you... Unless you have ever lived a day of your life as a stay-at-home-mum, never have anymore income, never have to take care of your children 24/7/365 YOURSELF and understand how energy sapping it is, do not open your mouth to even say that I am living my life easy.

Ephesians 4:29 (NIV) ~ Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen.

Leave me and my family alone and focus on yours.

If there is one particular thing I could remember well of the many many things I learned from my late father, it is that our name is very, very, very, important.

"Never take it for granted and always take your signature seriously." This is what I remembered my late father telling me long, long ago...

My late father once taught me the 2 different type of signatures he had when he signed for documents, one easy and simple to sign for petty unimportant documents and the other serious-I-mean-business type of signatures which he only used for banking documents and important paperworks.

Because of my dad, I always keep in mind that I will not simply allow my name to be used by others without proper justifications and especially for their personal gains.

Because of my dad, I am extremely wary when people close to me asked for my help to be guarantor and so on.

No matter how lucrative the returns or how honest or great promises given in exchange for my name to be used, I will politely excused myself out of the requests.

I am writing this as I dearly prayed that my loved ones will get the meaning of this. How important it is to hold onto our precious name and not let it be abused.

When I first saw the review pitch for this book, I thought to myself 'What? No more Sunday schools? Is this for real?'. I checked out the book further and decided I must review it! So here goes my review:

Why I wanted to review this book? Like the author, I too sometimes felt the lessons and activities taught in Sunday schools are not well absorbed by my child.  I feel that the activities in Sunday school are not exciting enough and maybe there is quite a number of children in the class everytime so there is no real one to one (or smaller scale) attention given in order to ensure our child knows and remembers what they learned in Sunday school.

Just a brief info on this book: It contains 5 stories from the Old Testament:
~ David and Goliath: Confidence and Courage
~ Hannah: Faithfulness and Strength
~ Daniel: A Shining Example
~ Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego: Ready and Willing
~ Joshua and the Battle of Jericho: Trust God All The Time

And each of the story contains 3 parts: family bible verse, family project and family craft. Meaning, each story begins with a parent preparation part, where parent can read up to prepare themselves before starting the lesson/activity with their children followed by a family bible verse related to the chapter and a family project and craft which you can do with your child and family to further reinforce what have been learned in the story.

I like that there is picture accompanying the family craft section, as it gives a better understanding and easier for us to refer to how the crafts will look like.

Some suggestions which I can think of to further improvise this book:
~ To have a summary page that can be printed out for easy reference / teaching to child
~ Bible verse to be formatted in a text box which we can print out and glue on wall or in book for reference.
