Pillar Of Support

~ Posted on Monday, July 14, 2014 at 8:34 AM ~

I received this in my email, one of the many inspirational articles I get and totally agree with it!

One of the major tasks of a mother is to give her children support. Here’s how:

  • Program your children for success. What you want them to be, tell them they are.

  • Expose your children to people you admire. If you surround your children with those you admire—youth group leaders, teachers, baby-sitters, relatives—you can provide a “stereo” version of value-training.

  • Tell, tell, tell your children what they are doing right. Lavish sincere words of praise on your children, whatever their age.

  • Teach your children to become pillars to others. Encourage them to invest praise and encouragement in the lives of their friends.

It’s not hard to be a pillar of support for our children. Like most of us, they are waiting to be encouraged.

What It Means To Be A Malaysian

~ Posted on Monday, June 30, 2014 at 12:08 AM ~

I came across this article on what it means to be a Malaysian. I agree with the article:

"A foreigner reading the local news of late would be left with the impression that Malaysians were an unhappy lot – paranoid that their respective communities were under threat and quick to provoke or threaten other Malaysians in the name of their race or personal beliefs. But it would be a mistake to stereotype all Malaysians based on what a few individuals, claiming to be their community’s representatives, say."

To be honest, it hurts every time I read about certain individuals raising up issues to divide, to bring down, to condemn, to devalue and many more disrespectful and disgusting acts.

Being Malaysian to me is living in a multi-racial country, each and every one of us care and respect one another.

I am proud to be a Malaysian, so I say to these individuals,

"Stop trying to divide us up with issues on religions, on races, on historical foundations and more. These are the very things that made up Malaysia to what it is today. These are the things that make Malaysia as unique and yet diverse and a wonderful blend of peaceful people."

Proud of Our Principled Son!

~ Posted on Wednesday, May 21, 2014 at 7:44 AM ~

Few days ago, I was down with flu, joint pains and diarrhea and was just struggling to get through the day. I had about 4 hours in the morning with our 2 girls while our boy was in his preK. Turned on the TV, loaded up the old Disney shows (Thumbelina and Alice in Wonderland) for our 2.5 years old girl to watch while I rested and nursed our 7 months old girl. Called for food delivery for our lunch and hubby got home around 2pm. He took our older 2 kiddos to his eldest sister house for a few hours so I could rest properly and he even made me rice porridge for dinner.

My SIL Whatsapp us later with pictures of our boy sitting next to her youngest son (10 years old) happily watching him played Minecraft on his iPad, chatting and just having fun with his cousin. A while later she Whatsapp us again telling us the reason why our boy refuses to touch their iPad.

FYI, we've been cutting down the iPad usage for our kiddos, weekends for our 5 years old boy and the occasional use (not more than an hour a day) for our 2.5 years old girl. During the weekdays when Alyson is using the iPad, I told Benjamin that he can have a look but he is not to touch the iPad or use it. And I'm so glad he remembered this and is persistent enough to resist the temptations. I mean, I'm not sure how often you see a kiddo who is able to resist temptation of the things they like?

So yeah, that makes me a very proud mummy!
