Dinner - Before & After

~ Posted on Tuesday, May 26, 2015 at 4:38 AM ~

Last year, I wrote about a look back into my home-cooked journey so far. Then shortly before the end of 2014, I wrote a post on my preparation when cooking. Then I thought, "Why not snap a picture of before start cooking and the final results after cooking?"

So, here you go..

Left part of the picture is the ingredients all ready to be cooked on 30th March 2015. From top left (clockwise): Spinach (washed, rinsed), a cup of sliced garlic (about 7-8 cloves), a bowl of anchovy base sauce, sliced pork marinated with sugar + sweet soy sauce, a bowl of chili sauce + curry powder + salt pepper,  sliced pork marinated with sugar + sweet soy sauce, a bowl of snap peas (ends removed, chopped into 1 inches long) and a bowl of sweet soy sauce + water + salt pepper.

Red Beans With Eggs

~ Posted on Wednesday, May 20, 2015 at 6:39 AM ~

For this post, I am sharing my next food recipe, Red Beans With Eggs (in Cantonese, we called this 'Yin Dao Dan'). I remembered during my younger years, my late mum used to cook this dish for us often. I would pretty much try to skip the beans and whacked all the eggs if possible hahahaha. But now that I'm married and have kiddos, this is my lazy last minute need-to-cook-something-without-meat-dish for the family hahahah... Without further ado, here is the recipe for Red Beans With Eggs:

Ingredients:
* A can of red beans
 * Eggs (quantity up to you, I usually use 2 medium sized eggs)
 * Water (about 2-3 tbsp)
* Sugar (about 1tbsp)

* Tomato sauce (about 1tbsp)
* Oil - for frying the eggs (quantity up to you but for 2 eggs, I use about 1tbsp of oil)

Methods:

* Heat up oil in pan. Meanwhile mix water, sugar and tomato sauce together in a small bowl.
* Fry the eggs until almost set, scrambled it up.
* Pour beans out of can into pan.
* Pour the water, sugar and tomato sauce mix into pan.
* Continue frying for about 2-3 minutes
* Ready to serve

Outcome:

Sewing Project - Hooded Bath Towels

~ Posted on Friday, May 15, 2015 at 5:30 AM ~

I bought my first ever sewing macchine in April 2015, the Global Sewing Machine GSM-505. The first thing I tried to do using the sewing machine was to repair my hubby's torn pants and jeans, followed by my diaper bag and our toddler's rompers. Then I made some hand towels.

And a few months earlier, I bought some bath towels and face towels in preparation to DIY hooded bath towels for our kiddos. Why hooded bath towels? I thought it would be nice to DIY something like this which they can use everyday and practical as well. Too often especially whenever we bring our kiddos for a swim at my sis-in-law's condo, I wished our kiddos could have hooded towels to cover their head and keep themselves warm.

I made the 1st one by hand and this is how it turned out... I know, uneven hand sewing but I haven't bought my sewing machine then and I thought it can be done with hand - well, yes, in a way, it can but not as nice...

So I put the project on hold as I realised it would be so much better if done using a sewing machine and then I realised, I needed to learn some sewing skills! And finally for today's post, I'm sharing my 2nd mini sewing project, which is Hooded Bath Towels!

A bit tricky when sewing certain areas but with patience and perseverance, I made it! But I'm not good with those ribbon clasp thingy yet LOL

To end my post, I am very happy with my second mini project and hope to do more sewing stuff when time permits!
