iPad App Review - Koto Go Silence

~ Posted on Tuesday, December 13, 2011 at 8:44 AM ~

I came across the press release of this app and wrote in to request for an opportunity to review it. To my delight, the developer of the app reverted with "I really liked your website, the clarity of the reviews plus the cute site design and illustrations." (awwww... thank you!) and that he is honored to have his app reviewed by me (the pleasure is mine!!) Anyway, my review as below...

Ben loves loves loves loves this app so much! So much that it is a MUST before his daytime nap and bedtime. We will at least go through this app twice a day and without fail, this app will definitely make him laugh, say out loud and ask me questions!

What's good?

* It is such a fun app! We totally love Koto, especially the computer graphics animation part!

* I like how some of the narration goes nicely in rhymes and the narrator's voice is very good as well.

* There are some pages which got Ben laughing, such as when Koto pops out of the doggy door (screenshot below).

* I also used the opportunity to teach Ben some new words, such as ninjas, shovels, wind chimes and so on.

* The app comes automatically with the Read Out Loud feature but requires us to tap each pages (except the animation part) to move through the story, so I used this opportunity to teach Ben to tap the text himself, so that he can learn that tapping the text will enable us to know what is going to happen next and I also want him to be more in-charge when we are going through this app.

Ben listening in full concentration...

What's not so good?

* I would love to have an option for the story to auto play by itself instead of us having to tap the text to move through the story.

* I would prefer if the 'monsters' sounds played a little bit longer (or play until we tap to the next page perhaps?) so as to keep the suspense going.

Product Review - LaDy LaDuke Breastfeeding Covers

~ Posted on Saturday, December 10, 2011 at 9:53 AM ~

Whose toes are that peeking out from the gorgeous cover?

I came across LaDy LaDuKe's website a month back and requested for a review opportunity. I was so looking forward for an opportunity to review a breastfeeding cover since I started breastfeeding in March 2009 and it gets really really really annoying when I am out and about and I had to frantically search for a nursing room in order to nurse my child.

For those of you who are staying out of Malaysia, we don't nurse in public and what we do is either cover up or we nurse in nursing/baby rooms if they are available, else, we have to make do with hiding somewhere to nurse I guess...

Without further delay, here's my review on the awesome life & time saving Feeder Frock Breastfeeding Covers, and yes, you get to see my face clearer on my blog for the very first time! ( * shy * )

BWS tips button

We are the Home of The Feeder Frock breastfeeding cover! Our original creation and design to help moms cover up fully while breastfeeding in public. The Feeder Frock is the only nursing cover that allows moms to stand or move while nursing. Sometimes you have to push a stroller or chase your kids, but most importantly...your nursing cover must be "cute"!

We want other moms to know that we understand what it's like to live in a world of kids all day, and that sometimes you need something that is pretty and special, and just for you.

I requested to review the Breastfeeding-Feeder Frock-LADY LUXE Nursing Cover-Stone Cobble because it looks gorgeous, made of chiffon material and I like the pattern. I tested the breastfeeding cover on the following areas:

* Washing - Colors stayed and did not stain other clothing

* Drying - Dries up really fast due to the chiffon material

* Storing - Again, due to its chiffon material, I'm able to fold and lump up the breastfeeding cover into my small diaper bag.

Fits into my small diaper bag!

* Other Usage -On the 1st day of using it, I turned MacGyver and used the cover as a shield to protect my baby girl from the glaring sunlight in our car.

"Mummy, I love the pretty cover!"

* Functionality - Very good! It covers all the sides and areas that are supposed to be covered, front, sides, back and top. I feel so much at ease to be able to breastfeed wherever I am. Although this breastfeeding covers allows the user to breastfeed on the go or standing, I still need to find a place to sit when nursing as I feel my girl is getting heavier and I would prefer to sit while nursing. One thing I'm still trying to get use to is the plastic covering for the neck support. It allows me to peep in to see my girl but sometimes the end of the plastic band pokes at my neck when I rushed to wear the breastfeeding cover.

* Ventilation - Due to its chiffon material, it is cooling and yet able to keep my girl warm! It sounds weird of me saying this but when we went for our recent family trip to Genting (it's one of the coldest place in hot Malaysia), my girl stays warm during the nursing session thanks to this cover!

Happily gorging on mummy's milk!

* Places I use the breastfeeding cover - Church (prior to this, I had to use this small nursing room provided but we have to sit on the floor and the room is quite stuffy), my SIL house, Genting Highlands (indoor playground, during an open-air train ride, open-air playground), shopping malls that we frequently go to, and latest: on a kiddie ride (there's not even a bench around, so I had to sit on a kiddie ride and nursed my girl).

Product Review & Giveaway - cutey

~ Posted on Sunday, December 4, 2011 at 9:03 AM ~

Ashley from cutey contacted me towards the middle of November asking whether I would be interested to review their range of charm bracelets (as they just launched recently) and also host a giveaway as well. Oh, I would be a total idiot if I say no right?! Anyway, I'm so happy I get to review this gorgeous charm bracelet! Without further delay, here's my review on the charm bracelet:

cutey was founded in 2011 to provide a quality range of customisable jewellery. Their initial range is designed as an everyday accessory that can be used at any time. The range is designed with the ability to be easily changed, allowing the jewellery to be changed based on mood, time or outfit. Their principals are to provide a high level of quality in each of our products. They aim to provide an affordable, every changeable piece of timeless jewellery and guarantee satisfaction in all of their products and will offer a full refund if you are dissatisfied by any of the products purchased through their store.

Their goals are simple, to provide the world with stylish, quality and easily customisable jewellery through many online channels as well as independent small retailers located throughout the world.

Beautiful product, what else can I say?! I requested to review the Hypnos charm bracelet as it has the lobster claw clasp which is something I've always preferred in my jewellery as I find it easy to wear and take out. The charms are cute, not heavy and I love that it does not irritate or poke my skin (unlike some bracelets I wore last time).

Enough talking, just look at the pictures below:
