Going Places in a Box!

Amazing how a plain old cardboard box and the wonderful imagination of a child can take them to places far and beyond! The moment our 4 years old boy got into the cardboard box (we have quite a number of these boxes at home) he started doodling and drawing steering wheels, buttons to press all around to launch his spaceship-racing car-house or whatever he fancies the cardboard box to be at the moment.

I also make use of the opportunity to teach my kiddos to share and play together since we only let them have one cardboard box at a time, so they have to play nice and co-operate together.

I also get to rest a few minutes while they both have a go at the cardboard box hahaha... nice, nice...

Homeschooling: Number 8...

Hello! Here's the next number writing worksheet I created for my 4 years old boy in our homeschooling lessons. Here's a picture of my boy's worksheet (taken on 30th April 2013) on his first attempt at writing number 8.

Number 8

And here's a picture of another worksheet (taken on 6th May 2013) on his second attempt at writing number 8.

Number 8

As to what concept I used to teach him how to write number 8, I told my 4 years old boy that a number 8 looks like 2 circles stacked on top of each other. My boy on and off relapsed on writing this number so I have to keep letting him practise writing it every now and then but he's getting better and better each time.

Btw, in case you are wondering why my boy 'colored' or struck off the objects at the bottom of the page, it is because I taught him to strike off one by one as he counted the number of things in the table.

I don't have designing experience but if you would like a copy of the learning to write number 8 template that I created, feel free to download it here (Learning to Write Number 8.pdf (237.11 kb)) Please note that it is for personal use and I do not own any copyrights to the images used in the worksheet - all the images are from Microsoft Clip Arts.

That's all the updates I can share for now, feel free to ask and share if you have feedback!

Homeschooling: Number 7...

Hello! Here's the next number writing worksheet I created for my 4 years old boy in our homeschooling lessons. Here's a picture of my boy's worksheet (taken on 30th April 2013) on his first attempt at writing number 7.

And here's a picture of another worksheet (taken on 9th May 2013) on his second attempt at writing number 7.

As to what concept I used to teach him how to write number 7, I told my 4 years old boy that a number 7 looks like a walking stick hold by an old folks. He got the concept after a few practises.
