Omelette with Salted Radish

~ Posted on Tuesday, July 21, 2015 at 5:21 AM ~

For this post, I am sharing my next food recipe, Omelette with Salted Radish. I first tasted this dish a few years back and just loved it! I couldn't figure out the name of the vegetable used in the omelette (not a vege person!) and only found out this recently after asking my buddy about it. After a few rounds of checking at a nearby minimarket and some supermarkets, I bought a small packet of salted radish to attempt this dish. Ever since then, this is my to-go dish when I want to eat something egg-y and still feel like I had some vege lol.

Without further ado, here is the recipe for Omelette with Salted Radish:

Ingredients:
* Eggs (beaten, I normally use 3 eggs)
* Salted radish (soaked for a few seconds and rinsed off)
* A little bit of oil for frying

Methods:
* Heat up a little bit of oil in pan.
* Pour the beaten egg, wait for a few seconds to pan fry the eggs.
* Sprinkle the salted radish all over the egg while it is still not set (you may also add the salted radish into the beaten egg and skip this step)
* Pan fry for a bit more and flip the egg to the other side.
* When egg is cooked, gently take out the omelette.
* Ready to serve

Outcome:

Teaching & Learning Moment - Homophone

~ Posted on Tuesday, July 14, 2015 at 5:50 AM ~

During the recent 1 week quarantine period in our 6 years old boy's kindy (few kiddos in the classes younger contracted hand foot mouth disease hence the kindy decided to shut down for a week while the staff disinfect everything. But that doesn't mean learning should stop.

So I continued teaching at home. Our boy loves to draw so I tested him on his drawing skill. I named something and he is supposed to draw it. It accidentally turned into an additional learning opportunity, homophone.

According to Wikipedia:

"A homophone is a word that is pronounced the same as another word but differs in meaning, and may differ in spelling. The words may be spelled the same, such as rose (flower) and rose (past tense of "rise"), or differently, such as carat, caret, and carrot, or to, two, and too."

Dinner - Before & After

~ Posted on Monday, July 6, 2015 at 5:44 AM ~

Last year, I wrote about a look back into my home-cooked journey so far. Then shortly before the end of 2014, I wrote a post on my preparation when cooking. Then I thought, "Why not snap a picture of before start cooking and the final results after cooking?"

So, here you go..

Left part of the picture is the ingredients all ready to be cooked on 13th  April 2015. Ingredients on left (top to bottom): Spinach (washed and cleaned), a bowl of anchovy base soup, a bowl of sweet soy sauce + water + dark soy sauce, pork sliced thinly marinated with sweet soy sauce and sugar, one square tofu (rinsed and dried, cut into half inches long), a bowl of oyster sauce + water + sweet soy sauce.
