Potty Training Updates...

Oh boy, it's been more than 6 months since I last blogged about my boy's potty training progress! Let's see, I blogged about starting Ben back on his potty training in February after months of delaying it (Alyson came along in September and I had to pause Ben's potty training since then) and even listed down some short, medium and long terms goals that I looked forward to accomplishing with Ben. Then I also blogged about the precious sight I get to see - Ben finally pooping in his potty! (instead of diapers which he always insisted on), and revisiting those goals I set in February against the progress in early May this year and checking off the ones we achieved 3 weeks later, and now...

Goals Set in Feb 2012

(35 months old)

Updates in 24th May 2012

(38 months old)

Updates in 10th Dec 2012

(45 months old)

Short Term: To move on to peeing into the toilet seat

Ben is able to pee into the toilet seat nowadays!

Same status though my boy still prefers to pee in his potty or into the drain hole next to our toilet seat (which he then washes off by pouring a bucket of water on the floor)

Short Term: To continue training him to poop in the potty until he feels safe to sit on the toilet seat

Ben is able to poo into his potty nowadays without needing me to be around!
Status same though nowadays, he will just pull down his pants and get to pooping in his potty by himself.
Short Term: To train him to poop in the potty by himself without me sitting behind & cuddling him for assurance Completed! Completed!
Medium Term: To train him to hold his pee for a longer period Completed! Completed!
Medium Term: To go diaper-free during his afternoon naptime after the above goal is met

In progress! I started on 3rd Dec afternoon before his naptime by gently asking whether he thinks he can hold his pee until he wakes up and he nods. Success first time! Repeated again on 5th Dec onwards, so far all success!
Long Term: To poop in the toilet seat

To continue this...
Long Term: To go out in public without diaper and potty Completed! Completed!
Long Term: To go diaper-free during his bedtime To try this task soon... To try this task soon...

As for my 15 months old girl, she is learning fast by observing her big brother! So much so that when I can see her obvious signs she wants to poo, I will immediately take off her diaper and put her on her brother's potty (which surprisingly, is the one property of Ben's that he gladly shares!!!)

Of course, I do need to sit around my girl to ensure she does not get up by herself before she finished her business, but I'm glad to share that she's receptive with the potty when it comes to pooping. So that's one potty training milestones for her off the list I guess! ;)

So there you go, looks like we are getting almost all of the goals soon for Benjamin! Thank God for this and for my dear boy to be so good in following through his potty training!

We are all so proud of you both, Benjamin & Alyson!
